A Hot Air Balloon flight is exhilarating and unique in any setting. However a hot air balloon safari over Masai Mara National Reserve is a once in a lifetime experience!
Watching the inflation and preparation is an incredible experience, as you soon see the truly massive size of the balloon! Once the balloon is fully inflated, the crew helps passengers aboard. The basket of your balloon is sectioned into multiple compartments for both your comfort and safety.
Hot air balloon flights are quite pricey in remote areas such as the Masai Mara. Yet an unique experience. One of the reasons for the hot air balloon safaris to be pricey is that the hot air balloons can only be used for a number of hours before they need replacement. After approximately flying for about 850 hours, the hot air balloon needs to be replaced and a new balloon must be purchased. Then of course there is the cost of fuel and crew to operate the hot air balloon safari experience.
There is a standard crew of 6 people plus pilot per hot air balloon. Additionally there are 10 extra people needed behind the scenes to get the hot air balloon up in the air.
In total quite a lot of people have their livelihood depending on a hot air balloon safari. Then in addition to this, please keep in mind the recovery vehicles in place, transfer vehicles and back-up operations. Also a large part of the hot air balloon safari experience are made up on conservancy or national reserve landing fees.

During July and August this can even turn into 15 other hot air balloons which is a magnificent sight to see! Not to mention the majestic silhouettes of giraffes, elephants and zebra roaming the plains, while lions and cheetah may be spotted from above in search for their morning meal.
For whoever loves birds, birds nests can be viewed from above and the patterns of the Mara river and its resident hippos and crocodiles.
Your experienced pilot will provide insightful commentary, enhance your understanding of the region's ecology and wildlife behavior. After this adventure in the sky a bushbreakfast with champagne awaits you while trying to spot some wild animals on the Mara plains!

4.Planning a hot air
balloon safari
We strongly recommend booking a balloon safari in advance, as it concerns a very popular activity and gets booked out early (especially during peak season). Please remember to bring some warm clothing, and a bag in which you can secure camera, binoculars, and other personal items.
5. What happens if the Weather is poor?
So what happens if the weather lets you down a bit and the hot air balloon safari is cancelled due to poor weather?
If weather conditions are not favorable for your flight then the flight shall be cancelled and re-scheduled for a later flight if possible as of course, your safety is the hot air balloon safari's crew biggest priority.
If this is not an option then your hot air balloon safari shall be refunded.
